Daughters of the River Hmong
ByLawrence Leedson April 22, 2018
I downloaded this book almost two years ago and finally got around to reading it. First off I served in the US Air Force at Tan Son Nhut AB outside Saigon. Once I came home I became very interested in Asian history especially Vietnam. This book tells the story of a young girl who use to paddle across the perfume river with passengers for some money. One day she meets a young Royal Man who then she became one of his concubines. The story takes off from there about the history of those times (French Occupation) to her only real love in her life. She ends up in Paris and eventually returns home. Saigon Falls, she ends up as a refugee in the Midwest and eventually gets educated and starts a new life. Eventually she goes back to Vietnam to remember all her good days and bad times including the history of her family. The book is very touching and has lots of human emotions and reflections on ones life journey. Well worth the read.

It's everything a book should be, crafted by a powerful and astounding woman of accomplishment. The U.S is honored by her citizenship and literary contribution.
