For the first wave of Vietnamese refugees, after April 1975, the first sign of a normalized life was probably early fall of 1975, when losses settled in, and nostalgia kicked in. Homesickness began. Learned to love a new life, a different landscape.
The first version is the original poem; the second version contains some word changes suggested by my "partner-in-crime."
