Justice Ginsburg: an American Institution

I disagree with the writer, whose expertise and "beat" are feminism and Jewish Studies.

I do not think of Justice Ginsburg's statement as a reminder of Jewish resistance. She has long raised above her ethnicity, religion, or gender. She has become an American institution.

I interpret her statement to be a reminder of the rule of law, an American pride.  What holds up democracy is the underlying foundation called the rule of law.  We pride ourselves as a "rule of law" nation, not a "rule of man" creature.  Not at all. Not in the least.

Especially when she placed her statement in the context of a "prediction" of her death, by a Senator (whose name she has...forgotten!).

He's gone, but she's still here (against all odds, her illnesses and health struggles reported in the press, and all that!)   All true, not "fake news" but, so what?

In today's climate, I took Justice Ginsburg's  tongue-in-cheek reminder that she has survived the Senator as a reaffirmation that America's rule of law will prevail over...nasty politics!  (To predict that someone like her will be dead in 6 months is such an ill-willed, nasty thing to say...Sounds like...politics to me!)
